Delphi Free Stuff was not a company and thus did not go out of business. Brad was an excellent Delphi programmer with a better understanding of the Win32 API than most Delphi programmers. Brad was very passionate and very helpful on the newsgroups. And he wrote some kick*ss components, gave the source away for free, and did his best to support them. All without being paid a dime.

I was a loyal user of his components and tried to answer questions when I could to help out. I even helped him when he converted his static web site to a database driven site using perl.

Advocates and supporters like Brad help make Delphi so great. He gave his work away for free. The unfortunate truth is that a lot of people take and take and take and never give back and that can really wear you down.

hi Jon,
nice to hear from you.

Why don't you say like this:

All the money went "elsewhere" to companies such as Embarcadero, DevExpress, TMS, LMD, maybe FastReports and other component vendors and...

for salaries, for that Delphi Magazine, for office expenses, rent and other things...

there was no money left for Mr. Brad from Delphi Free Stuff?

then Mr. Brad from Delphi Free Stuff saw through the Delphi delusion and got tired of doing all these things for free...

It's excellent what has happened to the Delphi community, greed has killed the freeware community...

Good Morning

I work with Delphi 7 and Report Builder from Digital Metaphors but seeing the "situation" I would like some advice reports with Visual Studio. Net
Does anyone know if you can "migrate" my current reports to another tool "similar" to Visual Studio. Net?

What do you think about the "evolution" and the cost of the products of Embarcadero?

is Delphi dying?

I'm starting to hate Delphi/Embarcadero.
;-(

Thanks.
Regards.

well, I guess you actually know that a lot of companies go out of business every year. You could try find .NET companies out of business in the last year.

Here you have 3 links may help you to find some answers and make a more responsible point of view.

Guess what, after all these years Delphi/Object Pascal is still alive, and I hope you can sleep well.
